What Is Poetry?According to the oxford English dictionary,Poetry is defined as; Composition in verse or language exhibiting conscious attention to patterns.
Well to an extent it is right but not in today's world. Now I present to you my definition. Poetry is a language created and spoken by a poet,in other words poetry is the language of a poet's heart/mind.
Though most people believe that poetry is a group of words divided into diverse stanzas. No that's not it. Poetry is a the expression of deep feelings from a poet's mind on a paper making it more than Just anything but making every word out of a poet to make poetry A treasure
As a poet the moment you understand the value of what you carry, and the importance it has, that day you become a Poet
Writing poem isn't just putting down words from your head,writing poem is bringing the words in your head to your heart for you to have a relationship with your words before putting then in paper
As a poet,you don't have to strive to write to please yourself or your audience/reader alone, but you have to strive to please your heart,your art,your character, yourself and your audience/readers
Now talking about understanding your character. As a poet not everything you write would be your personal story,sometimes (if not most/all)/you write fiction but how do you impact people with your ink? How do you carry them into the realm you are? How do you make them feel the pain/joy your character feels? You do that by impersonating your character,you put yourself in your character's shoes immerse yourself in his/her situation and write what you feel then you're writing poetry.
